A common misconception of high school transcripts is that they encompass all areas of homeschooling. Making a homeschool transcript is not like scrap booking. If you have a cool diploma from kindergarten, it will not be on the transcript. There are some things in your homeschool that are not supposed to be put there. Its purpose is for high school and in general, it is for academics only. Although, sadly, this can result in some important things or things you'd like to highlight being left out. But a homeschool transcript is just for high school academics, not for everything.
A transcript is an academic record instead of a character record. Other parts of their character are going to come out in different pieces of their application. If you mention that he is an Eagle Scout, then that certainly says something about his character but it is not something that always goes on the transcript.
There are some things that you could put on the transcript as an academic subject, but maybe that thing would be better put on the activities or the awards list instead.
The most important thing to understand is that a transcript is really a planning tool. It is going to help you to evaluate where you are in your four-year plan. Make sure that you work on your transcript every year so that you know where you have been, where you are going and what planning you need to do for the following year. If you update it yearly that will help you to not forget anything that is tremendously important. Please do not think that you will remember what you taught years ago. If you are like me you will have a difficult time remembering what you taught last month.
It can also help you to track your state's law requirements or the college admission requirements. For example, I live in Washington State and if you look at the 11 required subjects in required by state law and you look at your transcript, you might say to yourself, "Ah, hah! I need Occupational Education!"
